The company Defend Group, a leading manufacturer and distributor of Defend brand equipment for comprehensive vehicle security and protection, is introducing into the market for the 2006 motoring season another new product in the area of vehicle security – Defend Hook. This is an independent electromechanical trunk and hood lock, which reliably protects not only expensive automobile parts in the engine compartment, but also objects stored in the trunk.

„Because we’ve been present in the market in the Czech Republic for already more than 11 years, we are very familiar with the needs of Czech drivers and try to react to them in a flexible fashion,“ stated Ing. Pavel Vojtek, the general director of Defend Group. „Also growing along with vehicles‘ technical development is the value of some replacement parts, which is why we are introducing a new product which will reliably protect these expensive automobile components,“ added Pavel Vojtek.

According to police statistics, approximately 52 thousand cases of vehicle break-and-enter are investigated each year, which represents roughly 143 burgled automobiles a day. Among the spaces most often broken into are the engine compartment or trunk of the car. For drivers that wanted to protect these parts of the vehicle, up to now the offering included only mechanical barriers with a classical lock cylinder. „These systems were however characterized by their complexity of installation and easily overcome method of operation,“ remarked Pavel Vojtek.

The Defend Hook system is a unique electromechanical trunk and hood security system, which helps protect not only expensive automobile components such as the control system, Xenon headlights or car battery, but just as effectively secures the luggage compartment with all articles stored within. „Defend Hook components are placed inside the vehicle body, so it is impossible to attack them from without,“ added Pavel Vojtek.

The Defend Hook system consists of a lock, which is located inside the vehicle’s body and therefore cannot be attacked from without. Installation is completely independent of other security systems and neither does it require tampering with the vehicle body. Defend Hook can be operated with either an independent chip controller from the driver’s seat, or via a Defend Lock gearshift lock. Defend Hook can be obtained as a stand-alone hood lock, a stand-alone trunk lock, or a combined trunk and hood lock.

Defend Group offers the widest assortment of automobile security systems and supplementary services in the Czech market. Currently customers can choose from Defend Lock mechanical gearshift locks, through the Defend Hook electromechanical trunk and hood security system or Defend Locator satellite vehicle protection, to Defend Cargo electromechanical protection of the cargo space of light utility vehicles.
