A novelty in the area of vehicle cargo space security is the electromechanical locking of cargo spaces named DEFEND CARGO. It is the first real effective securing of cargo.
The product is intended for owners of light utility and freight vehicles, both companies as well as interested parties from the general public. Cargo space is, from a security standpoint, the portion of the vehicle that is at highest risk. Often though, not enough attention is paid to this. Up to now, all systems securing the opening of the cargo space have focused on a lock cylinder, which is however accessible from the outside, and for more clever thieves, relatively easy to overcome. The Defend Cargo system is composed of a servo lock, which is located inside the cargo space, and cannot be attacked from the outside, a special contact chip, with which the driver or other authorized person controls the system. The chip merely needs to be placed on the reader mechanism and the servo lock locks/unlocks access to the cargo space. Defend Cargo is nevertheless completely independent of other security systems.
